| George Stroumboulopoulos: | There's one thing that's interesting about your books. I noticed that you write women really well and really different. Where does that come from? |

Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.
So brilliant.
My favourite thing to do when looking at photos like this is to imagine exactly what cocktail of drugs and liquor they were running on.
Geniuses though.

Dear fucking Christ this article.
Violence Against Women Act Divides Senate indeed.
What anyone with an eye to actual human values and needs have against the renewal of this act. It’s just goes to further emphasize the virulent and vicious increase in the rollback of women’s right in the American government.
The law, designed to expand financing for and broadening of domestic violence programs, is drawing the Republican party’s ire because it apparently “unnecessarily expands immigration avenues by creating new definitions for immigrant victims to claim battery” and that “it dilutes focus on domestic violence” by bringing same sex couples under the umbrella.
Essentially they’re upset because basic human kindness and decency tends to thwart their bigotry.
Some gems :
“There are lots of other issues right now that could be dealt with other than this one,” said Senator John Thune, Republican of South Dakota
Because womenaren’t52% of the electorate and, you know, human beings who deserve to be protected?
Janice Shaw Crouse, a senior fellow at the conservative Concerned Women for America, said her group had been pressing senators hard to oppose reauthorization of legislation she called “a boondoggle” that vastly expands government and “creates an ideology that all men are guilty and all women are victims.”
Or that it fosters an environment contrary to the rape culture you propogate.
Phyllis Schlafly called the Violence Against Women Act a slush fund “used to fill feminist coffers” and demanded that Republicans stand up against legislation that promotes “divorce, breakup of marriage and hatred of men.”
I don’t even know what to say to that drivel. Feminist pyramid scheme to collect money to protect women? Ok…..
The legislation “creates so many new programs for underserved populations that it risks losing the focus on helping victims, period,” [Senator Charles E. Grassley of Iowa] said when the committee took up the measure
Undeserved populations? Undeserved populations!?So, what? Only white heterosexual women of appropriately feminine and pious nature deserve to be protected from and aided with abuse? The gays and coloureds are free game. Thank you Senator Dipfuck.
I feel like I went to sleep one day and woke up in a Margaret Atwood novel.
*Also a nice little bit of verbal ofuscation:
State efforts in Virginia and Ohio to mandate ultrasounds before an abortion or ban abortions once a heartbeat is detected have further inflamed passions.
Those would be trans-vaginal ultrasounds - meaning an invasive procedure performed not for any medical reason but because of the ‘morals’ of a few privileged fuckwits in government.

Q: What’s it like to be marrying Neil Gaiman?
Yeah, so, I don’t fucking know. I mean, it’s like trying to explain a colour. It’s just… You know. I really love him. It’s an incredible relationship. I feel incredibly lucky that we found each other. And I’ve never been able to be so completely myself, you know. Inside of a relationship, where usually in a relationship there’s a lot of changing and adjusting and figuring out and compromising and endless talking about how to do what, and with Neil it’s just so easy. You know, we’re just so easy for each other, that it feels.. It sometimes scares the shit out of me, because it feels too easy. Like the work should be harder. But, you know, there’s almost no work. It’s just, I really understand him, and he really understands me, and there’s not much else to talk about, we get to just go and have fun.
They are pretty much the OTP of the universe. Perfect human beings united!
